The release date for the 1940 Federal Census date is 16 days away - April 2.
U.S. Federal Census information is held for 72 years - a lifetime really - before it is publicly released, to protect the privacy of the people listed.
Unfortunately for a lot of us, the new information being released will bring up a slew of questions that come too late to ask our elders.
To view the questions that were asked of our ancestors in 1940, follow this link: http://www.1930census.com/1940_census_questions.php You can also use this site to learn more about other census years, including what major events were happening at that time.

Trying something new.
To my extended family,
I invite you to join in a discussion of our families, present-day and many years ago. Let's talk about what we remember about holidays at Grandma & Grandpa's house or about where our great-grandparents came from. Let's see where this takes us.
Your cousin,
~ Laur
